HUAWEI AITO

Design a trustworthy relationship between Volvo owner and Volvo Car

Project Intro

How might Huawei embrace AI to improve smart cockpit experience in 3 years?

How should we design smart cockpits for three years later?- For this time, we will focus on ‘Present’ & ‘Near Futures’.

“The future is already here — it’s just not very evenly distributed.”

PRESENT - SIGNALS RESEARCH

PRESENT RESEARCH - SIGNALS PRIORITIZATION

The drivers with the greatest impact and highest degree of certainty are the ones to unfold distinct and meaningful future world

3 key questions during prioritization

  • What is the certainty that this trend/emerging issue will continue to evolve?

  • What are the impact for us of the continued development of this trend/emerging issues?

  • Is there innovation space in this signal for the future of the world?

Based on the trends and issues, we can anticipate that in 3-5 years, Chinese customers will be eager to embrace safe AI technologies, with family shared travel scenarios becoming an important user scenario.

SMART COCKPITS CONCEPTS DESIGN VISION

How can we safely deliver AI technology to the owner and their family?

HERO CONCEPT

After defining the following three directions, we ultimately decided to focus on Point & Go, aligning with Huawei Auto's customer positioning in recent years.

POINT & GO - Smart Cockpit Interactive Experience

Multimodal interaction allows multiple users to engage with the Huawei smart cockpit using voice, gestures, and eye movements.

A flick of the finger, enjoy intelligent driving.

With a simple point outside, the smart cockpit identifies the indicated landmark. Without any complex operations or interruptions to the drive, the user can effortlessly learn about the landmark and directly navigate to it.

Avoid distracting the driver,
ensuring a safer and smoother driving experience while enhancing passenger enjoyable interaction.

I used a storyboard to describe how a AlTO owner(Chris) and his family (Wife Johanna & Daughter Lisa) use Point & Go together.

INTERACTION DESIGN

Smart Recognition

The user simply points to an outside landmark and gives a command. The Volvo smart cockpit will identify the specific passenger and, using millimeter-wave radar, will locate the user's gesture both internally and externally, determining the target location, such as a building on the street.

Seamless navigation integration

After confirming the location, the system quickly provides the user with the necessary information via voice and guides them to the destination, saving time and reducing hassle.
